Allergy to tea

"Tea is not just a drink, it is a whole culture that dates back thousands of years. The diverse traditions of tea drinking, characteristic of different regions of the world, many recipes, and even Tea Day, although not official, all this speaks of the leading position of this drink. Black and green, hot and cold, with milk, sugar, and even salt, tea is a tonic effect, vitamins, and just a few minutes of relaxation.

But, unfortunately, like any product, tea can cause allergic reactions. If you suspect that you have a tea allergy, should you give up your favorite drink?

We recommend that you do not make hasty decisions, but first understand the situation.
Most often, allergies do not occur to tea, but to additives that manufacturers use, or to mold, which may be present in tea leaves. In addition, if you have been ill for a long time or have recently been treated with antibiotics, an imbalance of the immune system occurs, which causes various body reactions, as a result of which it becomes almost impossible to determine the cause of the allergy “by eye”.

You suspect tea, but flowering, house dust, an old pillow, or, again, a fungus that has settled in the corner of the bathroom is to blame. There can be many causes of allergies, and it is very difficult to independently determine the culprit of the reaction. Food intolerance should also not be ruled out, which has similar symptoms to allergies and is often misdiagnosed even by doctors.

But it is also very dangerous to ignore allergies, because ""harmless pruritus"" can lead to serious complications, such as bronchial asthma, hemolytic anemia, serum sickness, anaphylactic shock. This cannot be allowed!

What to do if you suspect an allergy to tea in yourself or your child?

It is necessary to do tests for specific immunoglobulins E and G for tea. This will show if you really have an allergy or food intolerance to tea, and whether you need to eliminate it from your diet or just need to change the type and brand of tea.

Here you can do tests for allergies or food intolerances, one by one:
  • Black tea
  • Green tea
  • Chamomile tea
  • Tea, mint
Also, tea is included in the panel:
  • Imu Pro (food intolerance)
  • Food allergen map
  • Food intolerance (panel)
  • Allergen map MIX 112
Remember that before you refuse any products, you need to clarify whether they are exactly to blame for your bad well being. In any case, our allergists will help you deal with the problem of allergies or food intolerances and you may not have to give up tea.
