Preparation and transportation instructions for stool specimens

It is advisable to bring stool specimens before treatment or not earlier than 14 days after the end of the course of antibacterial and antimycotic therapy. If the feces are given while taking medication, be sure to point out this in a doctor's referral. 3-4 days before the study, avoid taking drugs that increase intestinal motility, or change the color of feces. Before a defecation, do not use fat-based rectal suppositories, enemas and thermal procedures on the stomach.

Collect faeces on a clean surface, which can be a clean new sheet of polyethylene or white paper. Feces are used after natural defecation. When using the vessel, it is preliminarily thoroughly washed with soap and a sponge, rinsed repeatedly with tap water, and then poured over with boiling water and cooled.
In newborns, fecal samples are taken from the diaper. A small amount of 1.0-3.0 g (1.0-3.0 ml) is taken from 7-10 different places with a spoon built into the lid of the container or other sterile object suitable for this and placed in the container. Close the lid carefully. It is not recommended to fill the container completely. The container should be filled to 1/3 of its capacity. Avoid contact with water and urine!
